Luke marks the turn of his whole Gospel in one sentence: as the time approached for Him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.

Deuteronomy said a hanged man is under God's curse; Luke says Jesus set His face toward the city where that curse would land on Him. He was not swept to the cross; He walked there, past rejection in Samaria, past His own disciples' vengeance fantasies, with a resolve made entirely of love.

That resolve sets the tone for following: no fire called down on those who refuse you, no looking back from the plow, no waiting for softer terms. Somewhere in your life there is a Jerusalem, an obedience you know is coming and keep postponing. Set your face today. The One ahead of you already did.
