An emperor signs the decree, but the real movement happens lower down: everyone whose heart God had stirred got up. Fifty thousand people traded settled lives in Babylon for rubble and a promise.

Revival always starts as a stirring before it becomes a caravan. If something in you has been restless toward God lately, do not sedate it. That might be the point of today.

Fifty thousand stirred hearts walked away from comfortable Babylon, and 1 Corinthians explains the roster: God chooses the unlikely on purpose. Not many nobles boarded that caravan. The manifest reads like the Corinthian membership roll, ordinary names carrying an extraordinary calling.

Both passages guard the same treasure: no one may boast before him. The exiles could not take credit for a stirring God started, any more than the Corinthians could take credit for their calling. When God moves you, the only fitting response is the one in Ezra: get up and go build.
