Amos names the strangest famine in Scripture today: not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD. People will stagger coast to coast searching for what they once shrugged at.

You are holding what they will crave. Three hundred and forty-some mornings into this year, do not let abundance make you casual.

The famine of hearing is self-inflicted: shrug at the word long enough and the appetite goes, then the access. Laodicea proves it can happen to the prosperous fastest, rich, needing nothing, with Jesus outside their own front door, knocking. Abundance without hunger is the most dangerous diet.

Philadelphia is the counter-portrait: little strength, kept word, open door no one can shut. God has always preferred weak grips on His word to strong grips on everything else, shepherds included, as Amos would testify. Eat while the table is full. It is full this morning.
