Two of the most quoted prophecies about Jesus arrive today in back-to-back chapters: they will look on Me, the one they have pierced, and strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.

Zechariah wrote them five hundred years before Good Friday and could not have explained them himself. Read today with the strange comfort of hindsight: the wounds were in the plan before they were in His hands.

Hold Zechariah 12 and Revelation 19 up to the light together. The one they pierced is the rider on the white horse. The mourning He caused becomes a wedding He hosts. And between the piercing and the wedding runs a fountain, opened on purpose, to cleanse sin and impurity for anyone who will wash.

That is the gospel's full arc in one day of reading, grief, cleansing, celebration, and it is the same arc God still walks people through. The psalm says He heals the brokenhearted while naming stars, which means your wound has never been beneath His attention. Look at the pierced One long enough to mourn, then long enough to marvel.
