The astonishing part is what happens next: Moses argues for mercy, and God relents, and Moses dares the boldest request in the Old Testament: now show me Your glory. Failure did not end the conversation. It deepened it.
Peter and Israel fell the same week they had sworn loyalty, and so has everyone reading this. What matters is the road out. Israel had Moses, standing in the breach, offering to be blotted out for them. Peter's bitter tears had somewhere to go, because the One he denied was at that moment absorbing the penalty in silence before Pilate.
And notice what failure produced in Moses: not distance, hunger. Show me Your glory. Some of the deepest prayers ever prayed come from the far side of disaster, because grace, once tasted, makes you want God Himself. If you have blown it lately, do not slink. Intercede, weep if you must, and then ask for glory.
