A desperate father speaks for every honest believer in history: I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief. Both halves in one breath, and Jesus honors the whole sentence.

Faith is rarely a solid block. It is usually a mixture, and today you will watch Jesus work with mixtures: dazzled disciples, a failing ministry team, a father at the end of his rope. Bring yours.

Notice the altitude change Jesus absorbs in one day: the Father's voice in glory on the mountain, and a shrieking crisis of failed faith at the base. He does not belong to only one of those settings, and neither does the life of faith. Mountaintops and messy valleys are the same discipleship.

The father's prayer is the valley's gift to you: I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief. Pray it without shame; Jesus healed the boy on the strength of exactly that mixture. And take His debrief seriously, this kind comes out only by prayer, because some valleys will not move for technique. They move for people who talk to God.
