God builds Israel a year with holy appointments in it: Passover in spring, Firstfruits, Weeks at harvest, Trumpets, Atonement, and a week of camping in shelters to remember the wilderness. A calendar designed to keep telling the story.

Meanwhile the disciples spend a road trip arguing about who is greatest, and Jesus schedules a different kind of appointment: a child, stood in the middle. Let both calendars correct yours.

God gave Israel festivals because stories fade without appointments. Sit in a shelter every fall, and your children will ask why; wave the first sheaf, and you will remember whose harvest it is. Grace needs a calendar or it becomes a rumor. The disciples on the road show what fills the schedule instead: rank, comparison, who is greatest.

So audit your appointments. Sabbath-shaped rest, regular remembering, the feast-days of your own story with God, do they have dates, or just intentions? And when you gather, put the child in the middle the way Jesus did: the greatest in the room is the servant of all. Build the calendar around that, and the story keeps telling itself.
