After Sinai's thunder comes the small print, laws about oxen, pits, loans, and cloaks, and the small print is where God's heart shows: return a poor man's cloak by sunset, because what else will he sleep in?

Big holiness lives in small fairness, and God signs His name to both. Read the case laws today like character references, because that is what they are: a portrait of the Lawgiver, drawn in ordinary transactions.

It is tempting to treat the case laws as filler between the famous parts, but heaven does not. The God whose voice strips forests in Psalm 29 spends His legislative attention on cloaks at sunset and straying donkeys. Nothing about your ordinary dealings, invoices, references, borrowed things, is beneath His notice or exempt from His character.

Jesus said the last days would be marked by love growing cold, and cold love always shows up first in the small print: corners cut, vulnerable people processed instead of seen. So stand firm by warming the details. Pay promptly. Return what you borrowed. Treat the outsider like you remember being one. That is end-times faithfulness.
