Moses finally obeys, delivers God's message to Pharaoh, and everything gets worse: same brick quota, no straw, and beaten foremen cursing his name.

Sometimes the first result of obedience is deterioration. Today's readings sit honestly in that stretch, the gap between saying yes to God and seeing why the yes was right. If you are standing in that gap right now, this day was written for you.

Between the burning bush and the sea there is a stretch nobody frames on their wall: obedience that made everything worse. Quotas held, straw vanished, allies turned hostile, and the promised rescue looked further away than before Moses opened his mouth. The rescue was not failing. It was underway, on a schedule that included Pharaoh's hardness.

Jesus' childhood requirement fits this stretch exactly. Children trust a parent's plan without seeing the itinerary. If your obedience has produced a harder week instead of a breakthrough, you may be in the middle chapters, not the wrong story. Stay small, stay trusting. The God who heard the groaning does not start rescues He will not finish.
