Converted Saul reaches Jerusalem, and the disciples want nothing to do with him, all except one. Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles, vouching for grace the others could not yet believe.

Barnabas means son of encouragement, and today he lives his name. Somebody once risked their reputation on you; today you may be asked to return the favor.

Jeroboam and Barnabas make an instructive contrast: one man's fear invented an idolatrous religion to protect his position, while another man's faith risked his standing to sponsor a suspect convert. Insecurity builds calves; encouragement builds apostles. Half of Paul's letters exist, humanly speaking, because Barnabas vouched.

Tabitha's resurrection adds the quieter glory: a woman famous for robes sewn and poor helped, so missed that the church sent for Peter. Encouragement and everyday kindness are load-bearing walls in the kingdom. Be somebody's Barnabas this week, the voucher, the door-opener, the first believer in their change.
