Simon has fished all night and caught nothing, and the carpenter borrowing his boat says: put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.

Simon's obedience had no enthusiasm in it, just deference: we have worked hard all night and caught nothing, but because You say so. That thin, tired yes was enough; the catch did the convincing afterward. Most breakthroughs in the life of faith start exactly there, obedience running a few minutes ahead of belief.

And notice what Jesus does with Simon's unworthiness: He does not dispute the sinful man confession; He repurposes the man. Do not be afraid; from now on you will fish for people. Your failure record and your fatigue are not disqualifications; they are the night before the catch. Where is He pointing your boat? Deeper. Go, because He says so.
