Today Ezekiel pays the costliest price of any prophet: God tells him his wife, the delight of his eyes, will die, and he must not mourn publicly, because his loss is about to become the nation's sign.

In the morning he spoke to the people. In the evening his wife died. Some obedience can only be measured in what it surrendered. Read today with your hat off.

Ezekiel's obedience cost him the delight of his eyes, and Hebrews 11 explains the only economy where that math works: faith treats God's promises as more real than present possessions, and dies still trusting if it must. All these were still living by faith when they died. The ledger closes in a better country.

Most of us will never be asked for Ezekiel's price, but everyone eventually surrenders some delight of the eyes, and the question is whether we have a treasure that survives the taking. Psalm 110's Priest-King, seated and sworn, is that treasure. Hold everything else with open, grateful, mortal hands.
