The news arrives today, one refugee with four words, the city has fallen, and Ezekiel's mouth is opened. Then God delivers the fiercest job review in Scripture, aimed at Israel's shepherds who fed themselves, and makes the takeover announcement: I myself will search for my sheep.

When leaders fail, God does not outsource the flock. He rolls up His sleeves. You have been carried by that verse whether you knew it or not.

Jesus stood in a Judean field centuries later and said, I am the good shepherd, deliberately picking up Ezekiel 34, the chapter where God fired the hirelings and took the crook Himself. Every verb has been kept: searched, rescued, bound up, carried. You are the found sheep of a personally involved God.

Shepherd what you have been given the way you have been shepherded. The Chief Shepherd is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and He notices curds.
