Peter reaches back to Leviticus today and hands the ancient standard to scattered ordinary believers: just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, for it is written: be holy, because I am holy.

Then he tells you what you are: living stones, a chosen people, a royal priesthood. Identity first, then imperative. God never reverses that order.

Be holy because I am holy sounds crushing until you notice everything Peter says first: new birth accomplished, redemption paid in blood more precious than gold, identity conferred, chosen, royal, priestly, His special possession. Holiness is not the entry fee. It is the family resemblance growing in people already adopted.

And it is corporate masonry: living stones being built together into one spiritual house, each stone shaped against the Cornerstone. Ezekiel's vision measured kitchens because worship reorders everything; Peter's letter measures conduct because grace does the same. Set your hope fully on grace, and let the resemblance grow.
