Two paths. One whole Bible.

Both plans take you through the entire Bible in 365 days. Pick the rhythm that fits how you read.

The mixed path

One Year Bible

Four readings a day — Old Testament, New Testament, a Psalm, and Proverbs — so every day has story, teaching, worship, and wisdom.

The straight path

Book by Book

The same whole Bible in a year — read straight through, one book at a time, without jumping around. Stay in the story from Genesis to Revelation.

How it works

Fifteen minutes, four passages, one story.

The One Year Bible plan splits Scripture into 365 daily portions. Each day you read a passage from the Old Testament, a passage from the New Testament, a Psalm, and a few verses from Proverbs.

That arrangement is the point. Reading Genesis to Revelation straight through means months in Leviticus before you reach a gospel. Mixing four streams means every single day has narrative, teaching, worship, and practical wisdom — and you never go a day without meeting Jesus.

Why we write our own devotional

Most reading plans hand you references and leave you there. We write a short devotional for every day — context on what you're about to read, what to watch for in each passage, a question to carry into your day, and a prayer to close.

Written by Brad Straarup and the Spirit Church team, so what you read Monday morning connects to what you heard Sunday.

Start any day of the year

You don't have to wait for January. Start today, read today's date, and keep going. If you miss a week, don't go back and catch up — just pick up where the plan is. The goal is a rhythm you keep, not a streak you protect.

A day in the plan

Questions

Before you start.

How long does it take to read the Bible in a year?

About fifteen minutes a day. The four daily passages run roughly three to four chapters total, and the devotional adds three or four minutes on top.

What if I fall behind?

Skip ahead to today's date rather than trying to catch up. Reading plans die when they turn into debt. And if you miss a week, a month, or a whole season — you'll get those passages again next year. We're not doing this once. We're building a rhythm you'll keep for decades.

Which translation should I use?

Our devotionals use the New Living Translation. It reads closest to everyday language, which makes it easier to stay in when you're starting out. If you prefer the NIV or ESV, both work — the plan is the same either way.

Can I start in the middle of the year?

Yes. Start today, read today's date, and you'll finish a full year from now having read the whole Bible.

What's the difference between the two plans?

One Year Bible gives you four short passages a day from different parts of Scripture. Book by Book keeps you in one book at a time, start to finish. Same Bible, same year, different rhythm.

Do I need a physical Bible?

No. Every passage is linked and readable right on the page. Plenty of people prefer paper — bring whichever you'll open.
